Playdate

Sunday, we went to a dear friend's house for the morning. We went to law school together and she has a almost 3YO. I'm not too concerned with whether or not the kids get along. Mostly, I just want to hang out with my friend.

I think playdates are kind of interesting. Some playdates are just for the kids. And some are just for mommy or daddy! It's also interesting to see different parenting techniques.

On the way to my friend's house (lets call her Dawn, just for ease of reading), we had to stop over at another friend's house to feed/water her cats while she's out of town. Dawn lives about 1.5 hours away and my other friend's house is on the way there. Since I was in kind of a hurry to get on the road, we decided to eat at McD's for B-fast. When you have kids that need naps, your only real window of quality play time seems to be in the AM. DS has been nagging to go to McD's because he wants to get some more "bad guys" toys. Unfortunately, the McD's we stopped at had different toys this time. They only had the "shooters." (It's a Clone Wars/Star Wars theme.) DS was heartbroken and just couldn't understand how they were displaying all the toys but he couldn't get what he wanted. Ugh. Sniffles and tears.

On the way home, I was hoping DD would nap in the car. Of course not. I drove slowly and it didn't matter. Since she was awake anyway, I stopped for cheap gas and for a McD's toy. YAY - this McD's had a "bad guy" toy. Peace has reigned.

We were only 30 min from home when DS decided he had to go potty right now. I could've stopped a bunch of different places, but I thought I would brilliantly stop at a Home Goods store. Thank God the kids had their new McD's toys to keep them busy b/c mommy shopped. DD got a new bedspread and pretty things for the wall. I got a new bedspread too. It's yellow and sunny. Mommy is happy.
